    Medicine Description

About Sodium Hyaluronate A visco-elastic polymer(Glycosaminoglycan), A tissue lubricant(prevent vaginal dryness),in osteoarthritis. Mechanism of Action of Sodium Hyaluronate Sodium hyaluronate is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, highly purified, noninflammatory, high molecular weight viscoelastic preparation. It is a physiological substance that is widely distributed in the extracellular matrix of connective tissues in both animals and man. It is present in the vitreous and aqueous humor of the eye, the synovial fluid, the skin and the umbilical cord. Sodium hyaluronate is a polysaccharide made up of disaccharide units linked by glycosidic bonds. Sodium hyaluronate occurs naturally on the corneal endothelium, bound to specific receptors. The natural sodium hyaluronate layer on the corneal endothelium is reduced during irrigation, but can be restored by exogenous sodium hyaluronate. It has high affinity to the receptors and act as scavengers by neutralizing the free radicals formed during
