About Paraffin Petroleum based lubricant, A lubricative laxative(faecal softner). Mechanism of Action of Paraffin Paraffin liquid is a lubricant laxative. It acts by softening and lubricating the faeces. Liquid Paraffin lubricates the intestinal tract, soften the fecal contents and retard the absorption of water and facilitate the passage of feces. By doing this it relieves constipation and reduces the pain of some conditions such as piles (haemorrhoids).
